First Saturday afternoons in Moseley, Birmingham
In 2017, these open poetry workshops facilitated by Chris Fewings will take place from 2pm to 4.30pm on 4 Feb, 4 March, 1 April, 6 May, 3 June, 1 July, 5 Aug, 2 Sep, 7 Oct, 4 Nov, and 2 Dec. Because of pressure on places you need to book in advance by email and pay on the day – the cost is £10. It’s a small friendly group which includes people with considerable experience of writing poetry and some who are just starting out. Each time we have a mix of old and new faces, women and men.
Each session has a different focus but we always spend time savouring some published poems from a variety of authors, and doing short writing activities which are designed to get you thinking in new ways. Some people bring a poem of their own to share. Trying your hand at poetry can also benefit people who specialise in some other form of creative writing such as fiction.
We use a pleasant room at Birmingham Buddhist Centre in Park Road, Moseley, Birmingham B13 8AB, which has tea and coffee facilities and opens onto their garden. (This is not a Buddhist event.) But please get in touch first if you want to come, or if you want to know more about the groups. I look forward to hearing from you!
